Our Journey
From Humble Beginnings to a Countywide Domestic Abuse Service
Our Journey
EDAN Lincs began in 1999, founded by a dedicated group who recognised the urgent need for local domestic abuse support.
Early Years
In 2001, we joined forces with national Women’s Aid and achieved charity status. Operating from a small office in Gainsborough, we initially served the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, offering outreach services and managing a small refuge for up to three families.
Expansion and Rebranding
By 2013, we expanded our services to support male victims and extended our reach across several districts in West Lincolnshire. This growth prompted a rebranding to West Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Service (EDAN Lincs) and an increase in our refuge capacity.
Countywide Services
Our significant growth continued in 2018 when Lincolnshire County Council commissioned us to provide Outreach and IDVA services across the entire county. This expansion led to our rebranding as EDAN Lincs to reflect our countywide operations. In 2020, we were also commissioned to deliver countywide refuge services.
Continued Evolution
Over the years, we have continually adapted to meet the increasing demand for support and assistance for individuals and children affected by domestic abuse.
In 2023, we were proud to announce the launch of the Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Specialist Service (LDASS), commissioned by the County Council with support from Lincolnshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner and NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board. This new service represents our ongoing commitment to providing specialised domestic abuse support across Lincolnshire.
In 2025, we launched our new website featuring our refreshed logo and colour palette to better represent our expanding services.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain dedicated to enhancing the support we provide to those affected by domestic abuse across Lincolnshire.
We are excited to expand our services further, ensuring that every person who seeks help can find the care and resources they deserve. Our commitment to collaboration with local partners and communities will continue to strengthen our community response to domestic abuse. We are optimistic about the future, knowing that together, we can make a lasting impact, create a safer future and put a stop to domestic abuse!
