Our History
‘Humble beginnings to a now Countywide Domestic Abuse service’.
EDAN Lincs was established in 1999 after a small group of individuals identified the need for a local domestic abuse support service.
In 2001 we became affiliated with national Women’s Aid and gained charity status. During this time we operated out of a small office in Gainsborough and served the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, providing outreach services and running a small refuge that could house up to three families at a time.
In 2013 we widened our remit to include support for male victims and expanded our support services to cover a number of districts that make up West Lincolnshire. At the same time we rebranded as West Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Service (EDAN Lincs) and invested in extra refuge provision.
In 2018 we saw further growth and expansion, being commissioned by Lincolnshire County Council to provide Outreach and IDVA services. We subsequently changed our name to EDAN Lincs due to the fact we were now operating countywide. In 2020 we were also commissioned to deliver countywide refuge services.
Over the years the organisation has evolved to meet the ever growing demand for support and assistance to individuals and children suffering, or fleeing from domestic abuse. We are excited to announce in 2023 that the County Council, with support from Lincolnshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner and NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board, have commissioned EDAN LIncs to deliver a ‘new look’ specialist domestic abuse support service across Lincolnshire.
